For organizations like CESDA, which recently completed a project titled “Promoting the Right of the Original Inhabitants of the FCT,” this day is a call to redouble our efforts in advocating for the rights of indigenous peoples, particularly those who live in voluntary isolation.

On this International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples 2024, we come together to honor and celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of indigenous peoples around the world. This year’s theme highlights the ongoing struggles and victories of indigenous communities in asserting their rights to self-determination, land, and resources. Indigenous peoples have long been at the forefront of advocating for their rights and the protection of their lands, languages, and cultures. Despite facing historical injustices, discrimination, and marginalization, indigenous communities have shown remarkable resilience and determination in preserving their heritage and way of life.

At CESDA, we believe that protecting these communities is not just a matter of justice but also a moral obligation. Our recent project aimed at promoting the rights of the original inhabitants of the FCT is a testament to our commitment to this cause, as we celebrate this Day; we reaffirm our commitment to standing in solidarity with indigenous peoples and supporting their struggles for justice, equality, and respect. We recognize that the challenges facing indigenous communities are interconnected and require collective action and support to address.

We have been advocating for the rights of indigenous peoples, and we will continue to do so. We believe that respecting and upholding the rights of indigenous peoples is not only a matter of justice and human rights but also essential for promoting diversity, sustainability, and peace in our world.
Let us commit to listening to the voices of indigenous peoples, learning from their wisdom and experiences, and working together to create a more just, inclusive, and equitable society for all. We can advance the rights of indigenous peoples and build a better future for generations to come.

Together, we can make a difference by protecting their lands, cultures, and identities. Join CESDA in standing with indigenous communities and advocating for their rights, today and everyday.

Happy International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples 2024!

The 2024 International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, themed “Protecting the rights of Indigenous Peoples in Voluntary Isolation and Initial Contact,” is a crucial reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by indigenous communities around the world.
