CESDA Board (Governing Council)
Ogunko Oluwaseyi Simisola is an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). He passed with an impressive number of distinctions in the professional examination of the Institute at both Certificate and Diploma Level in two different sittings.
He earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Inter cultural Communication and Dispute Resolution and also a Masters in International Relations and Diplomacy from the prestigious University of Abuja. As a Chartered Public Relations and Strategic Communication expert, he has actively participated in several developmental discussions that has brought about societal stability.
His scholastic piece has been used at various times in both local and international journals. He is the Founder/CEO of SwiftSodium Solutions Limited, a Public Relations and Strategic Communications Consultancy Firm that is based in Abuja; Nigeria.
Olusola Babalola is a Political Scientist cum Development expert with over 18 years of experience managing programs in the fields of good governance, civil society strengthening and socio-economic rights. He has worked closely with civil society organizations throughout Nigeria to build capacity, increase civic participation, develop advocacy capabilities, and provide civic and political education.
Olusola has multiple competences and has benefited from local and international trainings in Human rights, gender mainstreaming, project management, advocacy, transparency and anti-corruption, elections observation and management, peace and conflict resolution. He has extensive experience managing networks and coalitions of civil society groups throughout Nigeria, providing capacity building, strategic direction, staff and program management.
Olusola was formerly Program Manager at PRIMORG, a Transparency and Good Governance (TAG) based Nigerian NGO with head office in Federal Capital Territory, FCT – Abuja. Previously, he served as the National Coordinator, Transition Monitoring Group (TMG), a coalition of over 400 civil society organizations with national capacity- that works side by side with local NGOs in Nigeria, to promote democracy and good governance, credible elections, civic education, popular participation, transparency, accountability and information sharing.
He served as the South –West Zonal Coordinator of 2015 Quick Count Election Project also known as parallel vote tabulation (PVT), a USAID-NDI election observation initiative that deploys simple statistics and technology to observe 2015 general elections in the country. He was responsible for leading the project’s work, and overseeing the pursuit of Quick Count’s objective in the South-west zone which comprised Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo states respectively. Earlier in his career, Mr. Babalola served as Program Associate at Safe Water Africa Community Initiative, SWACI.
In that role he oversaw partnerships with donors, corporate bodies, community based organizations and government agencies; organized and conducted capacity building trainings; managed projects on behalf of his organization; and conducted project evaluations and needs assessments of community and projects. Mr. Babalola has a Master’s Degree in Political Science (public policy analysis option) from the prestigious University of Ibadan. He is a member of Junior Chambers International (JCI) and married with beautiful children.
Olufemi Olalekan Somotun holds a Master of Science degree in Political Economy and Development Studies; and Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science both from the University of Abuja. He has a National Diploma in Mass Communication from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta. He is an Associate Member, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations. He is interested in Biotechnology, Environmental issues, Poverty Alleviation, Gender and Youth Participation in Politics and Good Governance. He has few academic publications to his credit. He loves traveling and swimming. Olufemi is an astute rights activist whose penchant for good governance knows no bounds. He has also participated in different rights campaigns in the country.
Olusola E. Akintola has a PhD in Political Science (Political Economy and Development Studies) from the Prestigious University of Abuja, Abuja, Nigeria. He graduated from the Department of Political Science and International Relations, University of Abuja as the Second-Overall Best Student. With master and doctoral degrees in Political Science, he has written many articles in reputable local and international journals on development, political economy, environment, education, democracy and gender. He is an author, human and environmental rights advocate.
Ibitoye is a Development Economist with proven skills in community development and resource management. She is a graduate of the prestigious University of Abuja and University of Ilorin with Master degree in NGO management Studies and Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics respectively. She is astute manager and has brought innovations and professionalism to CESDA operations in no small measure.

Membership Structure
CESDA has a four-layer structure:
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is the supreme authority of the CESDA. It comprised the Board of Trustee, BoT and the Management Committee, MC of CESDA. It meets at least once in a year to provide leadership and guidance to the organization. The AGM takes decision on disciplinary issues as well as other vital decisions that promote the values of the organization. The Chairperson of the CESDA is the Chairperson of AGM. In addition, the AGM provides guidance to the Management Committee (MC) and Secretariat in an effective manner.
The Board of Trustee (BOT) of CESDA is responsible for policy formation in accordance with the guidance received from the AGM. The Executive Director approves the work of the Secretariat and meets at least twice in a year.
The Management Heads are responsible for steering the day- to-day management affairs of the organization. These is led by the Executive Director and ably assisted by the Departmental Heads whom together carry out the instructions of the BOT, programmatic and administrative activities of the organization with the support of other secretariat staff.
The Secretariat is the administrative and coordinating office of the organization. It is headed by an Executive Director (ED) who is mandated in accordance with the aims and objectives of CESDA, to manage and steer the organization to success. The ED is responsible for day-to-day management of programs, and s/he is answerable to the Board.
CESDA has a sizeable number of volunteers that cut across the 36 states of the federation, (including FCT – Abuja). These are people of proven integrity and impeccable character. Our volunteers are carefully recruited to include members of different professional groups, youth, and women organizations across every strata of Nigerian society. Essentially, the compliment the work of the secretariat.
