About Us

The Centre for Environmental Sustainability and Development Awareness, CESDA is a non-profit, non-partisan civil society organization founded in 2016 as a response to call for good governance and protection of Nigeria Environment and its natural resources.


CESDA’s 
main thrust is to promote civic responsibility, enhancement of good standard of living through advocacy for environmental policies and obligation for deepening and sustaining democratic development in Nigeria. In achieving its set objectives, CESDA employs civic education, stakeholders engagement, advocacy and campaign, observation of the electoral process, research and documentation, information sharing, seminars, workshops, grassroots organizing, and networking.

The Center for Environmental Sustainability and Development Awareness (CESDA), in collaboration with several civil society organizations, has joined a growing coalition calling for urgent action in response to the recent wave of mass deportations of Nigerians from the United States. In a unified voice, these organizations are demanding that the Nigerian government, African leaders, and international institutions take immediate steps to address the humanitarian and diplomatic implications of these deportations.

Recent developments have highlighted the need for stronger protective measures for Nigerians living abroad. The coalition has expressed deep concern about the conditions under which deportations are being carried out, the potential human rights violations involved, and the lack of adequate support for returnees. These concerns were brought to the forefront during a world press conference held on May 8, 2025, where CESDA and other partners presented a joint statement outlining their demands and position on the issue.
